Become a Lifeguard

Employment Opportunity

Sparkling Pools certifies and places lifeguards at swimming pools in NJ, PA, DE and NY.

Sparkling Pools is always looking for qualified candidates to become lifeguards. In order to be a lifeguard you must be at least 15 years old and a good swimmer.

Step 1 - Apply

  • First, complete the online application or call the main office at (609) 426-4252.
  • Next, attend an information session to learn more about Sparkling Pools and what it will be like to work as a lifeguard. At the end of the session, you will be given the opportunity to stay for a brief interview if you wish.
  • If you are offered employment at the interview, you will be given a pay rate and the opportunity to sign up for Lifeguard Training if needed.

Step 2 - Get Certified

  • Your job offer depends upon successful completion of the Lifeguard Training course. You will continue to be evaluated for eligibility during your training.
  • We teach American Red Cross Lifeguard Training at many different locations.
  • You are not required to take classes with Sparkling Pools, but you must be certified as a lifeguard before you can work.
  • Information about the class fee will be given at the information session/Interview.

Step 3 - Start Working!

The season begins on Saturday, May 29, 2017 - Memorial Day Weekend. As a lifeguard you should expect to complete any/all of the following tasks while you are at work:

  • Watching the swimmers and swimming pool area to make sure everyone is safe.
  • Making sure that everyone at the pool follows the pool rules.
  • Taking steps to prevent accidents from happening (for example: reminding children not to run on the wet concrete.)
  • Providing help for a swimmer in trouble or someone who needs first aid.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of the pool and pool area. These duties might include: vacuuming and skimming the pool, cleaning pool tiles, brushing the pool, emptying the skimmer baskets, tidying and cleaning the pool furniture, sweeping the deck and testing the pool water.
